2020 Club Ball Registration information

We are pleased to announce that Club Ball tryouts will be Sunday, October 6th at Scott Park. This tryout will be for players that want to play additional baseball above and beyond the recreational season. Recreational league play is a requirement to be part the club ball team.

The ideology is that the league will not have games some weekends during regular season so the club ball teams can enter tournaments for higher caliber play. The club ball teams will have an allocated practice day each week so that players don’t miss regular season functions. The schedule will not affect the amount of regular season games played; however, the regular season schedule will be different than  years past.

Tryout times and age groups are as follows:
Rookie (7-8 y/o) 12:30-1:15
Minor (9-10 y/o) 1:15-2:00
Major (11-12y/o) 2:00-2:45
Intermediate (13-14 y/o) 2:45-3:30

Coach Ryan Oppy will be present at tryouts to evaluate the players and coaches. If you are interested in coaching the club ball team, please come to the tryout to help with the evaluation process. At this time, no coaches have been selected due to Coach Oppy assisting in that selection as well.

As previously discussed in the parent meeting, we  have engaged Coach Ryan Oppy to help with the selection of the players and coaches. We also discussed the type of tournaments the club ball teams would be entering, which will be some weekend tournament play as well as double headers on Sundays.

We will be following the Little League age chart for playing and if the teams are eligible to enter into USSSA tournaments, that is definitely a possibility. However because the date ranges for player age is different, we felt it better to go with Little League playing ages to try and eliminate confusion.

Player ages are:
Intermediate:  8/31/07 to 9/1/05
Major:  8/31/09 to 9/1/07
Minor:  8/31/11 to 9/1/09
Rookie:  8/31/13 to 9/1/11

In the parent meeting, we also discussed the number of teams. Due to the size of our league, we will only be putting forth one team for each age division. However, if we get enough players for each age, we will put a team together for each age group (7 y/o team, 8 y/o team, 9 y/o team, 10 y/o team, 11 y/o team, 12 y/o team, 13 y/o team, and 14 y/o team).

Once regular recreational season is completed, club ball teams will continue to play. The fee associated to play on the club ball teams is in addition to regular season registration. The fees associated with club ball play will cover uniform costs, umpire fees, insurance fees, and tournament fees. The exact cost hasn’t been determined but will be in the range of $300-$500 per player.

The idea of club ball teams come from parents expressing their want for more baseball at a more competitive level for advanced players. The idea is to play at a travel ball level but the players still get to be with friends and start the process of playing under the coaching mentality of the varsity baseball coach.

Be patient as this is an evolving idea and we will work our hardest to make this the best experience possible, but we also know that we won’t get it exactly right from the beginning. Please email the board with any questions or input!
